About Us
How Our Story Began
Hi, I’m Brett. Back in 2013, my mom, Sherrel, was preparing to retire after 34 years of teaching. As a new chapter in her life, she opened an antique booth at Lagniappe Antiques. Alongside her friend Kathy, who she had known since elementary school through college, she launched their booth, “Vintage Sisters.” Mom’s passion for antiques was inspired by my Uncle Nick and Aunt Bernita, who collected a wide range of beautiful items.
My dad would often joke about mom “junking,” but to me, it was clear she was simply doing what she loved and earning a bit on the side. When Kathy needed a knee replacement, I stepped in and joined Mom after spending a few weekends picking with her. I quickly became hooked on the world of antiques. I decided to rent my own space and asked Mom what we should call it. She said, “Well, you’re my son,” and that’s how “Vintage Son” came to be.
I started doing live sales on Facebook and was instantly captivated by the interaction with customers. My mom and I work tirelessly, sometimes up to 90 hours a week, to ensure every order is fulfilled on time. My dad handles merchandise during our live sales, and together, we have a strong family bond while working.
We ship nationwide and absolutely love what we do. I wouldn’t trade this business for anything. It’s a joy to connect with customers around the world. I’m also grateful for the support of my friends Debbie and Felicia, who help with shipping, and Mrs. Kathryn, who manages logistics. Being able to work with my family and build relationships globally is something I cherish deeply.

This collaboration marked the beginning of their journey into the world of antiques, bringing their combined expertise and enthusiasm to Lagniappe Antiques.
